The development trend of photovoltaic module technology in the next ten years
Solar panels, made of 166, 182 and 210mm PERC solar cells have reached 450W, 540W, and 540W respectively in 2021. Conventional polycrystalline black silicon modules are mainly used in households and overseas markets such as India, the power of solar panel is around 345W. The power of 166mm PERC polycrystalline black silicon modules is about 415W. TOPCon solar cells c, HJT solar panels can reach 455W, 460W. In the next few years, with the development of technology, the power of solar panel will basically go up at a growth rate of ≥5W/year.
With the mass production of 182mm solar panels such as Longji, Jinko, and JA, the debate about the 182mm and 210mm solar cells has once again been raging. Despite, facing the challenge of achieving full price parity for photovoltaics solar panels, large size is the line that is unanimously recognized by the industry today.
There are currently two routes for large solar cell sizes. One is conservative, to get compatible size for existing production lines , used 182mm solar cells, and the power of 72cell layout can reach 535Wp. The other is innovative 210mm solar cells, the power of solar panel can reach 545Wp. Compared with 166mm solar cell 445Wp , the power of 210mm solar panel is greatly increased by 23%. Compared with 182mm 535Wp solar panel, its power is increased by 10W when the module area is the same. The power of 55cell of 210mm solar panel can be as same as 72cell 182mm solar panel, but its open circuit voltage of the module is only around 38V. This can help to reduce BOS cost.
In fact, the debate on whether solar panel type can reduce the cost of electricity per kilowatt-hour should be reflected on solar power system finally. The theoretical calculation of the cost of solar panel does not have practical guiding significance. After all, other equipments including inverter and brackets also need to be upgraded in time according to changes in industry development trends as well.
